Mzansibet Sportsbook Review 2026: Ratings, Bonuses & Verdict

Is Mzansibet legit in South Africa? Yes, Mzansibet is licensed. It is operated by SMS2Bet Betting Services (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2009/007749/07, which holds a bookmaker licence from the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. The site footer and the National Gambling Board’s Verified Operators portal both show licence number 10144175-017, while Mzansibet’s terms quote different numbers in two versions we saw. The licence is not the concern here: independent reputation is sharply divided, with strong Trustpilot reviews and a weak Hellopeter profile, explained under Brand Trust below.

Reviewed by BettingGuru SA Editorial Team in October 2026 using the BettingGuru 10-Point Review System, our editorial framework scoring licensing, trust, security, payments, payouts, bonus fairness, product quality, mobile experience, support and responsible gambling tools. Our checks covered a registered Mzansibet account (security settings, responsible gambling controls, cashier method lists, promotions and sports menu), a live chat session, two copies of Mzansibet’s terms, the betting rules, bonus terms, payments page, help centre and responsible gambling page, the National Gambling Board portal, and the Trustpilot and Hellopeter profiles. This review covers the Mzansibet Sportsbook only, see our Mzansibet Casino Review for casino scoring. Mzansibet is a South African sportsbook, with slots, live casino and Aviator on the same site, operated by SMS2Bet Betting Services (Pty) Ltd under a Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board bookmaker licence. The sportsbook covers about 30 sport categories with deep football, and its R50 Extra Bet welcome offer carries no wagering. In our 10-point review it scored best for Licensing & Legal Transparency, followed by Safety & Security, Deposits, Product Quality and Responsible Gambling Tools, where authenticator app two factor authentication, a 15 option cashier, the market range and a broad set of in account limits stood out. Its weakest area is Brand Trust & Reputation, where a 4.6 Trustpilot score sits against a 2 out of 10 TrustIndex on Hellopeter, followed by Withdrawals at 6.0, where Mzansibet’s documents give three different timeframes (1 to 3, up to 5 and up to 7 business days), a chat agent gave a fourth (1 day) and every deposit must be turned over once. An Android app is available on Google Play, and Mobile Experience scores 6.5 until we can test betting in it and check for an iPhone version. We opened an account to check the settings, limits and cashier and held one live chat, but have not deposited or tested a payout, so several categories are held back by our evidence ceiling.

Mzansibet Sportsbook Review: Strengths & Good to Know

Strengths

  • Bookmaker licence for SMS2Bet Betting Services (Pty) Ltd shown as 10144175-017 in the site footer and on the National Gambling Board portal, first issued in January 2014 according to the footer
  • Welcome offer of a R50 Extra Bet with no wagering, and winnings are paid as cash
  • Fifteen deposit options in the account cashier, including Capitec Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, cards, Ozow, vouchers and EFT, from R10 on easypay and R50 on cards, wallets and EFT
  • Two factor authentication through an authenticator app, a password change form and a session history in the account profile
  • About 30 sport categories, with roughly 1,950 soccer events listed, a market count of around 630 to 680 beside Premier League fixtures and a large in-play list
  • Deposit, loss and wager limits, separate casino and sportsbook session limits, cool off periods and self-exclusion, all set inside the account
  • An Android app is available on Google Play and worked when we checked it, in addition to the mobile friendly website
  • Live chat connected us to a named human agent within about a minute, and the agent rechecked the terms when we sent a screenshot
  • Trustpilot shows 4.6 out of 5 from 603 reviews

Good to Know

  • Hellopeter shows a TrustIndex of 2 out of 10 from 15 recent reviews, 14 of them 1 star, mostly about withdrawals and locked accounts
  • Withdrawal timing differs across Mzansibet’s own documents: 1 to 3 business days in the FAQ, up to 5 in a PDF copy of the terms and up to 7 in the online terms, and a chat agent said 1 day. We have not tested a payout
  • Every cash deposit must be turned over once before the related funds can be withdrawn, and the PDF terms add a charge of 5% (up to R90) if a deposit was not fully wagered
  • The terms quote licence numbers that do not match the footer and portal: 10144175-016 online and 10186171-007 in a PDF copy
  • The Extra Bet’s expiry and minimum odds are not published on the pages we read: a chat agent gave 7 days and minimum odds of 2
  • Live chat hours are 7am to 1am according to the agent, not the 24/7 the Support page states, and several chat answers were vague or conflicted with the documents
  • The loss limit and cooling off wording refers to the casino, so it is unclear whether they cover sports betting
  • We have not checked for an iPhone app or tested the mobile website, betting in the app or a deposit

Is Mzansibet Sportsbook Licensed in South Africa?

8.0 / 10
In short: The site footer and the National Gambling Board portal agree on Western Cape bookmaker licence 10144175-017, which the footer says was first issued in January 2014. Two versions of Mzansibet’s terms quote different licence numbers, and the terms and portal show different addresses, which keeps the score at Strong rather than Excellent.

Mzansibet is operated by SMS2Bet Betting Services (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2009/007749/07. The site footer says the company, trading as Mzansibet, is licensed and regulated by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB) and gives Bookmaker Licence Number 10144175-017, first issued in January 2014. The About page also says Mzansibet is licensed and regulated by the WCGRB.

We searched the National Gambling Board (NGB) Verified Operators portal, whose list was last updated on 4 September 2026. It lists SMS2Bet Betting Services (Pty) Ltd as a Bookmaker in the Western Cape under licence number 10144175-017, at Office 4A and 4B, Knowledge Park III, 2 Heron Crescent, Century City. The company, regulator and licence number therefore match the footer.

The terms are less consistent. The online terms, shown as version 1.0 and updated on 19 December 2024, quote licence number 10144175-016. A PDF copy of the terms, headed version 1.0 and updated on 30 July 2024, quotes a third number, 10186171-007. Both give a registered office at 360 Business Park, 3rd Floor, 8 Wessex Street, Paarden Eiland, Cape Town, which is not the Century City address on the portal. We read the footer and portal as the current licence and the terms as outdated, but Mzansibet should correct them, and neither source explains the difference. In live chat, the agent answered our licence question by quoting 10144175-016 from the Terms and Conditions page and did not address the footer number. We did not find a licence certificate published on the site.

This review scores the sportsbook only. Mzansibet also offers slots, live casino games and Aviator on the same site, which we have not assessed here.

Mzansibet receives 8.0/10 for Licensing & Legal Transparency. The legal company, registration number and regulator are disclosed, and the licence number in the footer is confirmed on the regulator fed portal. It stays at 8.0 rather than higher because two versions of the terms quote other licence numbers, the addresses differ and no certificate is published.

2

Is Mzansibet Sportsbook Trustworthy? Reputation and Customer Feedback

5.5 / 10
In short: Trustpilot is very positive and Hellopeter is very negative, and both are one sided. Because the Hellopeter complaints are about withdrawals and locked accounts, which matter most to players, we weigh them heavily and score this category Poor until the picture is clearer.

Mzansibet’s About page calls it South Africa’s newest online betting platform and says it has “30+ years of experience from seasoned veterans” behind it. We could not verify that claim. The operating company’s registration number points to a company registered in 2009 and the footer says its bookmaker licence was first issued in January 2014, but we found no independent record of how long the Mzansibet brand has operated.

On Trustpilot, Mzansibet shows 4.6 out of 5 from 603 reviews, and the profile is claimed. Recent reviews praise the game variety and mention bonus spin wins. Trustpilot’s own panel notes that the company has no recent history of inviting reviews and has not replied to negative reviews.

On Hellopeter, the picture is the opposite. Mzansibet shows a TrustIndex of 2 out of 10 and an NPS of minus 100 from 15 reviews in the last 12 months, 14 of them 1 star. The profile is unclaimed and none of the reviews has a reply. The recurring themes are a withdrawal requested on 30 September that had not been processed on 1 October, funds locked in an account since April, a withdrawal cancelled without notice pending enhanced verification, payouts taking up to 7 days, confusing bonus terms and unhelpful support. The one positive review also mentions payment delays.

Fifteen reviews is a small sample, and review platforms attract people with complaints, so we do not treat Hellopeter as the full story. But the complaints match the slow withdrawal timeline allowed in Mzansibet’s own terms, and the operator does not appear to be responding publicly. Trustpilot’s large positive sample counts in Mzansibet’s favour but does not erase a specific, repeated payout complaint.

Mzansibet receives 5.5/10 for Brand Trust & Reputation. The strong Trustpilot score and a registered South African company keep it out of the Critical band. The 2 out of 10 TrustIndex, the withdrawal complaint pattern and the lack of public replies keep it in Poor. We will revisit it when more independent evidence exists.

3

Is Mzansibet Sportsbook Safe? Security and Account Protection

7.5 / 10
In short: Inside the account, Mzansibet offers two factor authentication through an authenticator app, a password change form and a session history, and it requires ID and proof of address. We did not complete the two factor setup, and the terms describe encryption in outdated wording.

Registration sends a verification code by SMS, and after registering players log in with either their cell phone number or their email address plus a password. Mzansibet’s FICA procedure asks for an identity document (a certified copy of an ID or a driver’s licence) and proof of residence, which must be a bank statement or utility bill not older than three months. Documents are uploaded on the Documents page of the profile or emailed to support. The terms allow Mzansibet to suspend an account until verification is complete and to carry out KYC checks on withdrawal requests.

The Profile page has General, Verification and Security tabs. The Security tab offers two factor authentication with a code generating app such as Google Authenticator or Authy: the player scans a QR code and enters the code it produces. Next to it is a password change form, and below it a Session history list showing the IP address and country of account sessions. We did not complete the two factor setup, so we cannot say how it behaves at login, and we did not see login alert emails or a full device list.

Deposits follow a name matching rule. Card and bank deposits must come from an account in the player’s own name, and if the names do not match the funds are returned and the account is suspended until bank confirmation and ID are supplied.

A Privacy Policy, a Cookie Policy and a PAIA Manual are linked in the footer, although we did not open the PAIA PDF. The online terms say card payments run through Peach Payments and describe encryption as “Secure Socket Layer 3”. SSL 3.0 has been obsolete for years, so we read that as outdated wording rather than a technical finding. The site itself loads over a secure connection. We did not run any technical security audit.

Mzansibet receives 7.5/10 for Safety & Security. Authenticator app two factor authentication, a session history, early identity checks, the name matching rule and published privacy documents give a solid baseline. It stops at 7.5 because we did not test the two factor login flow or run a technical audit, and the terms still contain outdated encryption wording.

4

Which Deposit Methods Does Mzansibet Sportsbook Accept?

7.5 / 10
In short: The deposit screen inside the account lists 15 options, with minimums of R10 on easypay, R20 on vouchers and R50 on cards, wallets and EFT, and a R100,000 maximum shown for Capitec Pay. We did not make a deposit, and the public Payments page shows a shorter list.

The Quick Deposit screen in the account shows 15 payment tiles: Capitec Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay with Visa, Google Pay with Mastercard, Visa, Mastercard and Maestro cards, Ozow, easypay, OTT voucher, BluVoucher, 1Voucher (which appears on two tiles), two EFT tiles and a scan to pay option. The minimums shown are R10 for easypay, R20 for OTT voucher, BluVoucher and 1Voucher, and R50 for the rest. Capitec Pay shows a minimum of R50 and a maximum of R100,000, with quick amounts from R50 to R2,000. The screen also has a promo code field and an Activate Bonus switch, covered under Bonus.

The public Payments page is less complete. It lists nine methods, all marked as free and instant: BluVoucher (R20 to R5,000), easypay voucher (R10 to R1,000), EFT secure (R50 to R100,000), FNB (R50 to R3,000), Standard Bank (R50 to R3,000), OTT voucher (R20 to R3,000), SnapScan (R50 to R100,000), Zapper (R50 to R100,000) and 1Voucher (R50 to R3,000), and it shows no card or wallet option. The 1Voucher minimum is R50 there and R20 in the cashier. An independent review lists Capitec Pay among 15 methods, which matches what the cashier shows. The FAQ says Mzansibet covers the recipient transaction costs, while a payment provider may charge a fee for sending money, and the terms add that direct bank transfers take 2 to 3 business days and cash deposits are accepted at Mzansibet’s discretion from R100.

Voucher funds carry a condition: the terms say the full voucher amount must be used for betting before winnings can be withdrawn, and vouchers cannot be redeemed or refunded for cash. Cash deposits generally must be turned over once before withdrawal, covered under Withdrawals.

Mzansibet receives 7.5/10 for Deposits & Payment Methods. A broad, modern set of local options, including Capitec Pay, wallets, cards, vouchers and EFT, with low entry points makes this a Good score. It is held at 7.5 because we did not complete a deposit, so processing speed and fees are untested, and the public Payments page still shows a shorter list than the cashier.

5

How Fast Are Mzansibet Sportsbook Withdrawals?

6.0 / 10
In short: The account’s withdrawal screen lists seven methods with minimums of R100 or R300 and a R1,000,000 maximum on Capitec Pay, and Mzansibet charges no fee of its own. Its documents give three different timeframes (1 to 3, up to 5 and up to 7 business days), a live chat agent said the maximum is 1 day, every deposit must be turned over once, and Hellopeter has a cluster of recent withdrawal complaints. We did not test a payout.

The FAQ says withdrawals typically appear in the bank account within 1 to 3 business days, and asks players who have not been paid after three business days to email support with their username, request date and amount. The minimum is usually R100 depending on the method, and the methods are EFT, bank transfers and Instant Money. Mzansibet does not charge a withdrawal fee, but any fee charged by the payment provider is passed on to the player. In live chat, the agent said a withdrawal takes at most 1 day, and that longer waits are usually about missing documents.

Inside the account, the Withdrawal tab of the Wallet lists seven methods. Capitec Pay, Ozow and two EFT tiles show a minimum of R100, while OTT voucher and two further tiles show R300. The Capitec Pay form shows a minimum of R100 and a maximum of R1,000,000 and asks for a bank account number and bank name before the Withdraw button is enabled.

The terms are less generous and not consistent. The online terms say withdrawal processing takes up to seven business days from the request, while a PDF copy of the terms, headed version 1.0 and updated on 30 July 2024, says up to five. That PDF also says that if a deposit has not been fully wagered, Mzansibet may charge 5% of the amount requested, up to a maximum of R90, and may hold the withdrawal until the player explains why the deposit was not played. We have not confirmed whether that charge is also in the online version. In live chat, the agent first said there was no explicit 5% to R90 charge in the terms, then confirmed after we sent a screenshot of the clause that it is in the terms, and said that withdrawing before wagering the full deposit could be charged. Payouts go only to a South African bank account in rand, to the account the deposits came from and in the player’s own name. Mzansibet runs KYC checks on withdrawal requests, may review play for prohibited activity before paying and may withhold a payout if it decides prohibited activity took place. The maximum net payout on a single or multiple sports bet is R1,000,000, and the limit may be lower for some sports and bet types.

Turnover is the condition players most often miss. Under the terms, cash deposits must be turned over once, meaning bets to the value of the deposit, before the funds connected to that deposit can be withdrawn, and the same applies to the total of several deposits. Mzansibet may reject a withdrawal if the requirement has not been met. The terms also allow an administration fee of R30 a month on an account that stays inactive for 12 consecutive months, and an account with no access for 30 months is closed, with the balance returned or, if the player cannot be found, donated to a charity working on gambling harm.

The independent evidence points the same way as the longer timelines. Recent Hellopeter reviews describe a withdrawal not processed the day after the request, a withdrawal cancelled without notice pending enhanced verification, waits of up to 7 days and funds locked in an account since April. Trustpilot reviewers rarely discuss withdrawals, and one 5 star review says the wagering still has to be finished before the player can withdraw. We have not completed a withdrawal, so we cannot confirm actual payout speed.

Mzansibet receives 6.0/10 for Withdrawals & Payout Reliability. The absence of a Mzansibet fee, a visible method list and published minimums are positives. The conflicting timeframes across three documents and a fourth answer in chat, the turnover rule, the possible 5% charge and the complaint pattern keep it in Fair. Seeing the cashier does not show how fast or reliable payouts are, and this is a critical safeguard category, so we will revisit it first when a payout has been tested.

6

Is the Mzansibet Sportsbook Welcome Bonus Fair?

7.0 / 10
In short: The welcome offer is a R50 Extra Bet with no wagering and cash winnings, which is a good structure. The expiry and minimum odds are not published on the pages we could read, and a chat agent gave 7 days and minimum odds of 2. The first deposit must be turned over once, and Mzansibet can revoke bonuses at its discretion. Sports players should also check the Activate Bonus switch on the deposit screen, because the casino packages carry 40x wagering.

The sportsbook welcome offer is advertised as “Bet R50, Get R50 Extra Bet” with the line “No wagering, cash winnings”, for new customers joining for the first time. The Extra Bet guide says it can be used on any sport, has no wagering and that all winnings are cash. If a bet placed with an Extra Bet is cancelled, voided or refunded for any reason, the Extra Bet stake is forfeited and is not returned, re-credited or reissued. A no wagering structure is among the cleanest bonus designs we see.

The general sports bonus terms add several conditions. A bonus is limited to one per customer, household, device, IP address, email address and bank account. Any cash obtained from a sports bonus cannot be withdrawn until the customer has made a real money deposit, and that deposit must be turned over once before the bonus cash and the deposit become withdrawable. Mzansibet may exclude customers from a bonus, and may revoke any sports bonus or change the terms at any time without cause or notice, after advising the WCGRB. The PDF copy of the terms goes further and says Mzansibet may cancel, rescind, withdraw or reclaim any bonus at its sole discretion. Disputes go first to Mzansibet and then to the WCGRB, and the customer can also approach the WCGRB directly.

We did not find the Extra Bet’s expiry period or minimum odds stated in the pages we could read. A live chat agent told us it is valid for 7 days with minimum odds of 2 and a “maximum of 20”, which we could not match to a published page, and one independent review also gives 7 days. A minimum odds requirement of 2 is a real restriction on a no wagering offer. The sportsbook promotions section also shows Have It Back, a weekly sports cashback of 10% up to R5,000, whose terms we did not see, and a Premier League Predictor offering 10 bonus spins.

The account’s Promotions page leads its Welcome Offer tab with a casino package instead: 100% up to R5,000 plus 100 bonus spins on the first deposit, with further matches on the next four deposits worth up to R21,000 in total. Its terms set 40x wagering on the bonus on games only, a 7 day validity, a maximum bet of R100 while wagering, a R100,000 cap on winnings from deposit bonuses and bonus spins, and only one active bonus at a time, with the deposit and bonus combined into one locked balance. These terms are outside this sportsbook score, but the deposit screen has an Activate Bonus switch next to a promo code field, and it appeared switched on in our screenshot. We did not test which bonus it applies, so sports players should check what is attached before depositing.

Hellopeter reviewers complain about confusing bonus terms and about promotions that did not match their expectations, including one who said there was no free play on sign up. That is not a pattern we can prove from a few reviews, but it fits the gap between the headline offer and the details above.

Mzansibet receives 7.0/10 for Bonus Fairness & Wagering Terms. No wagering on the offer and cash winnings are real strengths. The expiry and minimum odds that appear only in chat, the turnover condition on the first deposit, the right to revoke bonuses and the casino bonus switch on the deposit screen keep it at Good rather than Strong.

7

What Markets and Features Does Mzansibet Sportsbook Offer?

7.5 / 10
In short: About 30 sport categories, deep football coverage, South African competitions on the front page, a large in-play list and a market count of roughly 630 to 680 beside Premier League fixtures. We did not place a bet, so odds quality, cash out and the bet slip are untested.

On 10 October 2026 the sports menu listed about 1,950 soccer events, 353 basketball, 170 American football, 90 tennis, 43 cricket, 36 boxing, 25 rugby and 5 baseball events, plus around two dozen further categories including darts, snooker, golf, MMA, table tennis, volleyball, handball, ice hockey, cycling, floorball and futsal, and a Specials section. Counts change by the minute, so treat them as a snapshot. The in-play section listed 218 live events at the time.

The Top leagues bar on the homepage includes the South African Premiership, the MTN 8 and the Championship, alongside the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Premier League and NBA. The Today and Tomorrow lists show 1X2 and Over/Under prices, a statistics icon and a Show top markets toggle for each match, and a number beside the star on each fixture. For Premier League matches that number ran from 628 to 676, for example 628 on Chelsea v AFC Bournemouth. We read it as the number of markets on offer, but we did not open a match to confirm.

In-play rows carry 1X2 and Over/Under prices, with padlocks on markets that were suspended, for example on a live Test between South Africa and Australia. The menu has an odds format selector set to Decimal, and there are separate Schedule, Results and Statistics pages.

The betting rules set a minimum stake of R1 on all sports bets, treat multiples with related contingencies from the same event as void, and cover horse racing with a 6% tax and levy on winnings and daily limits on exotic bets. We did not see a horse racing section in the menu. We did not find cash out, bet builder or live streaming described in the pages we read, which is not evidence that they are absent.

We did not compare Mzansibet’s odds with other South African bookmakers, so we cannot say whether its prices are competitive, and we did not check settlement speed.

Mzansibet receives 7.5/10 for Product Quality. A wide range of sports, deep football coverage, local leagues, a large in-play list and a high market count make this a Good score. It stops at the evidence ceiling because we did not place a bet, so odds quality, the bet slip and extra features were not tested.

8

Is the Mzansibet Sportsbook App Any Good?

6.5 / 10
In short: An Android app is available on Google Play and worked when we checked it, after a live chat agent pointed us to the Play Store. We have not tested betting, deposits or withdrawals in the app, have not checked for an iPhone version and did not test the mobile website, which keeps this below Strong.

Mzansibet’s FAQ says both the sportsbook and the casino games are mobile friendly and can be opened in a mobile browser. We did not find an app download link in the footer, the help pages or the About page, so we asked live chat whether there is an Android or iPhone app, where to download it and whether the mobile website is the recommended way to bet on a phone. The agent replied only that we can go to the Play Store, which does not address iPhone or the mobile website.

We then searched Google Play, found a Mzansibet app and checked it on an Android phone, where it worked. We did not record store details such as ratings, install counts or version, we did not test betting, deposits, withdrawals or two factor authentication inside the app, and we have not checked whether an iPhone version exists. An independent review published in August 2026 described the “app” as a progressive web app with no listing on Google Play or the App Store, which does not match what we found. One Hellopeter reviewer also refers to an app.

We viewed the site on desktop and did not test registration, deposits, withdrawals or live betting in a phone browser. Because the app is not linked from the pages we read, players need to know to look for it in the Play Store.

Mzansibet receives 6.5/10 for Mobile Experience. An app that exists on Google Play and works is a clear step up from a browser only site. We hold the score at 6.5 because iPhone support is unknown, the app was only checked briefly, the mobile website was not tested and the app is not linked from the pages we read. We will revisit it after a fuller phone test.

9

How Good Is Mzansibet Sportsbook Customer Support?

6.5 / 10
In short: Live chat connected us to a named human agent within about a minute, and the agent rechecked the terms when challenged. Several answers were vague or conflicted with Mzansibet’s own documents, and the agent gave support hours of 7am to 1am, not the 24/7 the Support page states. We have not tested the phone line or email.

The Support page lists email at support@mzansibet.com, a telephone line on 021 891 0477 for urgent matters and a Chat Now option, and says support is available 24/7. The help centre also has a detailed FAQ covering registration, FICA, deposits, withdrawals, bonuses and bet settlement.

We tested live chat on a Saturday afternoon, 10 October 2026. After a short automated menu and the option to speak to an agent, a named agent connected within about a minute, and the widget quoted a usual reply time of under 2 minutes. Over roughly 40 minutes we asked seven questions. Simple questions were answered within a few minutes. The question about a fee on withdrawing unwagered deposits took about half an hour: the agent first said they would double check, then said a charge could apply, then said the terms contained no explicit 5% to R90 charge and asked for a link, said our screenshot did not appear to be from the Mzansibet site, and finally confirmed after we sent the terms link that the clause is in the terms.

The content of the answers was mixed. The app question was answered with only “go to the play store”, which turned out to be right for Android but did not address iPhone or the mobile website. The withdrawal answer, up to 1 day, differs from the FAQ (1 to 3 business days) and the terms (up to 5 or 7). The licence question was answered by quoting the number from the terms without explaining the footer number. The agent gave the Extra Bet validity as 7 days with minimum odds of 2, which we could not find on a published page. The agent gave support hours of 7am to 1am daily, which matches an independent review and contradicts the 24/7 claim.

An independent review published in 2026 reported that the phone line reached an agent in under a minute and that email did not get a reply during its test. On Hellopeter, reviewers describe the support team as unhelpful and rude when a player made a mistake with a bonus, and one reviewer says a withdrawal was cancelled without notice and only after a second query. Mzansibet does not appear to reply to reviews on either platform.

Mzansibet receives 6.5/10 for Customer Support. A human agent within about a minute, a polite and responsive recheck of the terms, multiple channels and a well organised help centre are positives. Vague or conflicting answers, hours shorter than the 24/7 claim, one long exchange and untested phone and email channels keep it in Fair, and a single chat session is a limited sample.

What Responsible Gambling Tools Does Mzansibet Sportsbook Offer?

7.5 / 10
In short: The account’s Responsible Gambling page offers deposit, loss and wager limits, separate casino and sportsbook session limits, a cooling off period and self-exclusion. We did not set any, so the controls are untested, the loss limit and cooling off wording refers to the casino, and self-service exclusion offers 6 months or 1 year.

Inside the account, the Responsible Gambling page shows three limit cards, Deposit limits, Loss limits and Wager limits, each with an Add new button. The loss limit form offers daily, weekly or monthly periods and explains that a reduction takes effect immediately, an increase needs 24 hours, cancelling a loss limit takes 24 hours and an email is sent once a limit is exceeded. The terms describe the same idea slightly differently, saying an increase needs email confirmation and only applies after the previous limit of the same type expires.

One rule is worth knowing: the loss limit is based on the initial deposit, not on winnings. Mzansibet’s own example is a R50 deposit with a R10 loss limit followed by a R1,000 win, after which the player can still lose more than R10 of the R1,000 balance. The PDF copy of the terms describes the loss limit as a limit on losses “in the casino”, and the cooling off text in the account talks about staying away from the casino, so we could not tell from the screens whether these two tools also cover sports betting. That is worth asking Mzansibet before relying on them.

Session limits are set separately for Casino and Sportsbook, in minutes, take effect instantly and log the player out when the limit is reached. The terms give a range of 6 minutes upwards. The cooling off dropdown in our screenshot listed 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 1 month and 3 months, and the terms mention periods up to 1 year. The self-exclusion dropdown offered 6 months and 1 year, takes effect instantly and blocks login for the period, and the page says an indefinite exclusion needs a request to support through live chat. The online help page mentions 6, 9 and 12 months and the PDF terms also list 1, 3, 6 and 9 months, 1 year or indefinite, so the options differ between sources. Self-exclusion reopens only after the National Responsible Gambling Programme’s Self-Check test is completed.

The help page gives the National Responsible Gambling Programme helpline, 0800 006 008, and its SMS and WhatsApp line, 076 675 0710, links to the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation, and has an underage gambling section that recommends filter software. We did not see a reality check, and nothing says whether self-exclusion reaches other operators.

Mzansibet receives 7.5/10 for Responsible Gambling Tools. The range of limits, per product session limits, in account controls and national helpline details make this a Good score. It is held at the evidence ceiling because we did not set or trigger any limit, the casino wording leaves sports cover unclear, no reality check was seen and the self-service exclusion options stop at 1 year.

Mzansibet Sportsbook FAQ: Licence, Withdrawals, Deposits, Bonus and Support

Is Mzansibet legit and safe in South Africa?
Yes. Mzansibet is operated by SMS2Bet Betting Services (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2009/007749/07, which holds a Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board bookmaker licence. The site footer and the National Gambling Board’s Verified Operators portal both show licence number 10144175-017, while the terms quote different numbers in two versions we saw. The review gives Licensing & Legal Transparency a score of 8.0/10. Safety & Security scores 7.5/10: the account offers authenticator app two factor authentication, identity documents are required and deposits must be in the player’s own name. Reputation is divided, with 4.6 out of 5 on Trustpilot and a TrustIndex of 2 out of 10 on Hellopeter.
Does Mzansibet have two factor authentication?
Yes. The Security tab of the account profile offers two factor authentication using a code generating app such as Google Authenticator or Authy, set up by scanning a QR code. It also has a password change form and a session history. BettingGuru SA did not complete the setup, so we have not tested the login flow.
How long do Mzansibet withdrawals take?
Mzansibet’s documents give three different answers: the FAQ says 1 to 3 business days, a PDF copy of the terms says up to 5 and the online terms say up to 7, while a live chat agent told us the maximum is 1 day. The account lists seven withdrawal methods with minimums of R100 or R300, and the Capitec Pay form shows a maximum of R1,000,000. Mzansibet charges no withdrawal fee of its own, but the terms allow a charge of 5% (up to R90) when a deposit has not been fully wagered, which a support agent confirmed is in the terms. Payouts go to the bank account used for deposits in the player’s own name, and cash deposits must be turned over once first. BettingGuru SA has not yet tested a withdrawal, and Hellopeter has recent complaints about delayed or cancelled withdrawals.
What is the minimum deposit and withdrawal at Mzansibet?
In the account cashier the minimum deposit is R10 for easypay, R20 for OTT voucher, BluVoucher and 1Voucher, and R50 for Capitec Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, cards, Ozow and EFT. Capitec Pay shows a maximum of R100,000. The minimum withdrawal is R100 on Capitec Pay, Ozow and EFT, and R300 on OTT voucher and two other methods, with a maximum of R1,000,000 shown for Capitec Pay.
How do I FICA verify my Mzansibet account?
Mzansibet asks for an identity document (a certified copy of an ID or a driver’s licence) and proof of residence, which can be a bank statement or utility bill not older than three months. You can upload them on the Documents page of your profile or email them to support@mzansibet.com. The terms allow Mzansibet to suspend an account until verification is complete and to run KYC checks on withdrawal requests.
What is the Mzansibet welcome bonus for sports betting?
Mzansibet advertises “Bet R50, Get R50 Extra Bet” for new customers. The Extra Bet can be used on any sport, carries no wagering and pays winnings as cash. The Extra Bet stake is forfeited if the bet is cancelled, voided or refunded. The first real money deposit must be turned over once before bonus cash and the deposit can be withdrawn. A weekly sports cashback called Have It Back is advertised at 10% up to R5,000, but we did not see its terms. We did not find the Extra Bet’s expiry period or minimum odds stated in the pages we read, but a live chat agent said it is valid for 7 days with minimum odds of 2, so confirm this when you claim. The deposit screen has an Activate Bonus switch, so check which bonus is attached before you deposit.
Can I deposit at Mzansibet with vouchers?
Yes. The cashier lists OTT voucher, BluVoucher, 1Voucher and easypay, with minimums of R20 for the first three and R10 for easypay. The public Payments page gives limits of R20 to R5,000 for BluVoucher, R10 to R1,000 for easypay, R20 to R3,000 for OTT voucher and R50 to R3,000 for 1Voucher. Mzansibet’s terms say the full voucher amount must be used for betting before winnings can be withdrawn, and vouchers cannot be redeemed or refunded for cash.
Does Mzansibet have a mobile app?
Yes, for Android. Mzansibet has an app on Google Play, which a live chat agent pointed us to and which BettingGuru SA found and checked on an Android phone, where it worked. We did not test betting, deposits or withdrawals in the app and have not checked for an iPhone version. The sportsbook is also mobile friendly in a phone browser according to Mzansibet’s FAQ, although we have not tested the mobile website. An independent review published in August 2026 described a web app with no store listing, which does not match what we found on Google Play.
What responsible gambling limits does Mzansibet offer?
The account offers deposit, loss and wager limits for a day, week or month, separate session limits for casino and sportsbook, a cooling off period and self-exclusion of 6 months or 1 year, with indefinite exclusion requested through support. A lower limit applies immediately, while an increase takes 24 hours or needs email confirmation. The loss limit is based on the initial deposit, not on winnings, and the loss limit and cooling off wording refers to the casino, so ask Mzansibet whether they cover sports bets. The National Responsible Gambling Programme helpline is 0800 006 008.
How do I contact Mzansibet support, and what are the support hours?
Mzansibet lists email at support@mzansibet.com, a phone line on 021 891 0477 and live chat, and the Support page says support is available 24/7. A live chat agent told us hours are 7am to 1am daily, which matches an independent review. In our chat test a human agent connected within about a minute, although some answers were vague or conflicted with the documents. We have not tested the phone line or email. Complaints about bonuses can be referred to the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board if Mzansibet cannot resolve them.
