Virgin Bet Sportsbook Review 2026: Ratings, Bonuses & Verdict

Is Virgin Bet legit in South Africa? Yes, Virgin Bet is legit. It is operated by VB South Africa (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2024/318645/07, and holds a bookmaker licence from the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator (licence 9-2-1-09938, issued 6 January 2026), confirmed against the published licence certificate and the National Gambling Board’s Verified Operators portal. One detail worth knowing: the same portal also lists a second entry for the company under the Western Cape, which Virgin Bet’s site does not mention, explained under Licensing below.

Our checks included a registered account, both the AI assistant and a human agent in live chat, and the published licence documents. New Operator Notice: Virgin Bet launched in South Africa in 2026 and does not yet have an established independent reputation track record here. We found no Trustpilot or Hellopeter profile for the South African site, and the Trustpilot reviews for virginbet.com belong to the separate UK business, so we have not used them. As a result, Brand Trust & Reputation is marked “Not Yet Rated” rather than forced into a score, and is excluded from the overall score below, which is calculated from the remaining 9 categories. We plan to revisit and score this category around April 2027.

Virgin Bet is a South African sportsbook and casino operated by VB South Africa (Pty) Ltd, part of LiveScore Group, and launched in 2026 under a Mpumalanga Economic Regulator bookmaker licence. Its sportsbook is the stronger half of the business, with more than 39 sports and esports, deep football markets and payout features such as 2UP and VAR Payout. In our 10-point review it scored best for Licensing & Legal Transparency and Responsible Gambling Tools, followed by Bonus Fairness, Product Quality, Mobile Experience, Customer Support and Deposits, where light welcome wagering, a human agent, three app routes and low-minimum deposits stood out. Its weakest area is Withdrawals, which are bank transfer only, can take up to three working days and which we have not tested. We also found no two-factor authentication, a loss limit that can only be set through support and a welcome-offer validity period that Virgin Bet’s own channels quoted differently. As a 2026 launch, Brand Trust & Reputation is marked Not Yet Rated, see the notice above.

Virgin Bet Sportsbook Review: Strengths & Good to Know

Strengths

  • Bookmaker licence from the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, checked against the published certificate and the National Gambling Board portal
  • Welcome offer of 100% up to R3,000 with 8x wagering on the bonus and 30 days to complete it, among the lightest terms in our reviews
  • More than 39 sports and esports with deep football markets, Bet Builder, 2UP early payout, VAR Payout and Super Sub Payout
  • Chat hands over to a human agent in about two minutes, and the agent gave accurate answers on loss limits and the welcome offer
  • Wide responsible gambling toolkit: deposit limits, cool-off periods, a reality check and self-exclusion for up to 5 years
  • Three app routes: App Store for iPhone, Huawei AppGallery and a direct APK download for Android

Good to Know

  • Withdrawals are by bank transfer only and can take up to 3 working days, and we have not tested a withdrawal
  • No two-factor authentication was found in the account settings
  • There is no self-serve loss limit: it is set by a support team across all products and can take up to 24 hours
  • The site names only the MER licence, while the National Gambling Board portal also lists a Western Cape entry for the company that support did not explain
  • Virgin Bet’s own channels quoted 14 and 30 days for the welcome offer, and the minimum odds of 2.00 on singles are strict
  • Live chat runs 07:00 to 22:00, while the responsible gambling page claims 24-hour support

Is Virgin Bet Sportsbook Licensed in South Africa?

8.5 / 10
In short: Virgin Bet holds a bookmaker licence from the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator that we confirmed against the licence certificate and the National Gambling Board portal. Two open points keep it below Excellent: a second, Western Cape entry on the portal that the Virgin Bet site never mentions, and an annual renewal date that has only just passed.

Virgin Bet is operated by VB South Africa (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2024/318645/07, part of LiveScore Group, with the brand licensed from Virgin Enterprises Limited. The site names a Mpumalanga Economic Regulator (MER) bookmaker licence, number 9-2-1-09938, issued on 6 January 2026. We opened the licence certificate that Virgin Bet publishes: the holder is VB South Africa (Pty) Ltd with the same registration number, the licence type is Bookmaker, the approved URL is www.virginbet.co.za and there are no land-based premises. The National Gambling Board (NGB) Verified Operators portal lists “Virgin Bet” under the same licence number in Mpumalanga, at MXJ House, White River, which is the administrative address on the certificate.

The portal also carries a second entry, “VB South Africa (Pty) Ltd – Bookmaker”, at the Bloubergstrand address shown in Virgin Bet’s footer, under a Western Cape licence number, 10194718-001. The same listing also shows separate entries named VBETSA Western Cape (Pty) Ltd, in Paarl, and a number of VBetSA outlets in Limpopo. They carry different names and addresses, and nothing we saw links them to Virgin Bet. Virgin Bet’s site does not mention a Western Cape licence. We asked live chat whether one is held, and the agent repeated the MER licence number and linked the certificate without addressing the question. We cannot say what the second portal entry covers. Addresses also vary across the operator’s own material: the footer says Bloubergstrand, the Terms and Conditions say Tableview, and the complaints answer from the chat assistant names Virgin Bet Limited at 3 Dock Road, V&A Waterfront.

The certificate states an annual renewal date of 30 September, with the renewal application due by 30 June. That date has just passed. The NGB list we checked was last updated on 4 September 2026, so we have not seen confirmation of the renewal either way, and we will recheck.

Virgin Bet receives 8.5/10 for Licensing & Legal Transparency. A verifiable regulator licence with a matching portal entry is the core of this score. It stops short of Excellent because of the unexplained Western Cape entry, the inconsistent addresses and the renewal date we could not yet confirm. Sportsbook and casino share one account and one licence, so this score matches our companion casino review.

2

Is Virgin Bet Sportsbook Trustworthy? Reputation and Customer Feedback

Not Yet Rated
In short: Virgin Bet launched in South Africa in 2026 and has no independent reputation track record here yet. We are marking this category Not Yet Rated rather than forcing a score.

Brand Trust & Reputation is normally scored from independent customer sentiment, mainly Trustpilot and Hellopeter. For the South African Virgin Bet site we found no Trustpilot profile and no Hellopeter profile.

Searching for Virgin Bet on Trustpilot returns the reviews for the UK site, virginbet.com. That is a different company operating under UK rules, and its reviews say nothing about how the South African business treats its customers, so we have not used them. The Virgin name and the LiveScore Group parent are also not a substitute for a local track record.

Following our standing approach for newly launched operators, Brand Trust & Reputation is marked Not Yet Rated and excluded from the overall score. We plan to revisit and score it around April 2027, once a meaningful body of South African customer feedback exists.

3

Is Virgin Bet Sportsbook Safe? Security and Account Protection

7.0 / 10
In short: Identity checks start at registration, which is a good sign. We found no two-factor authentication in the account settings, which keeps the score at Good.

Virgin Bet asks for an ID number at registration, so identity checks begin before the first deposit. Further documents can be requested later, particularly before a withdrawal. The site describes verification as happening before deposit, while the Terms and Conditions allow Virgin Bet to withhold payments until age, identity and anti-money-laundering checks are complete. Deposits are also subject to a name-on-card rule, so the payment method has to be in the player’s own name.

We looked for two-factor authentication in the account settings and did not find it. For an account that holds ID details and links to a bank, that is a gap, because a stolen password is then enough to log in.

We did not run a technical security audit, and this score rests on what a player can see and test from the account and the published terms. Virgin Bet receives 7.0/10 for Safety & Security. Early identity checks are a strength. The missing two-factor option is the reason it does not score higher. Sportsbook and casino share one account and one licence, so this score matches our companion casino review.

4

Which Deposit Methods Does Virgin Bet Sportsbook Accept?

8.0 / 10
In short: Five deposit methods in the account, deposits from R10, no deposit fee and high ceilings. The public site lists fewer methods than the account actually offers.

The deposit page inside the account lists Visa and Mastercard, Capitec Pay, Absa Pay, Pay by bank and 1Voucher. The site copy and the support chat describe the options as card, Capitec Pay, prepaid vouchers and bank to bank, and do not mention Absa Pay, so the account is the more complete source.

The minimum deposit starts at R10 and Virgin Bet states no deposit fee. The ceiling is R500,000 per transaction on card, bank to bank and Capitec Pay, and R4,000 per transaction on 1Voucher. The name-on-card rule applies to card deposits.

We did not see wallet options such as Apple Pay or Samsung Pay in the account. Virgin Bet receives 8.0/10 for Deposits & Payment Methods. The local bank options, the low minimum and the high limits make this a Strong score, held back from higher by the mismatch between the public site and the account and by the absence of wallets. Sportsbook and casino share one account and one licence, so this score matches our companion casino review.

5

How Fast Are Virgin Bet Sportsbook Withdrawals?

6.5 / 10
In short: Withdrawals go by bank transfer only, with no fee and a R1,000,000 ceiling. Processing can take up to three working days, and we have not tested a withdrawal.

Virgin Bet pays out by bank transfer (EFT) only. The Help Center and the support assistant both confirmed this. There is no withdrawal fee and no stated minimum, although a balance under R10 needs a request to support. The ceiling is R1,000,000 per transaction.

Processing runs in two stages: internal processing of up to 24 hours, followed by up to 3 working days for the transfer, which Virgin Bet says can stretch to 5. A withdrawal cannot be cancelled once requested. To withdraw at all, the account must have no outstanding verification and no bonus wagering still pending.

The in-account withdrawal page only appears after a first deposit, which we had not made, so these rules come from the Help Center and the support chat rather than from the payout screen. We have not completed a withdrawal and cannot confirm real-world speed. Virgin Bet receives 6.5/10 for Withdrawals & Payout Reliability. The fee-free, high-ceiling payouts are positives. A single payout method, a multi-day timeline and the absence of a tested payout hold it in Fair territory. Sportsbook and casino share one account and one licence, so this score matches our companion casino review.

6

Is the Virgin Bet Sportsbook Welcome Bonus Fair?

8.0 / 10
In short: A 100% match up to R3,000 with 8x wagering on the bonus and 30 days to complete it is among the lightest welcome terms in our reviews, and a wide set of ongoing promotions sits behind it. The validity period was quoted two ways across Virgin Bet’s own channels, and the minimum odds are strict.

Virgin Bet lets new players choose a welcome offer at registration, sport or casino, and the offers cannot be combined with other promotions. The sportsbook offer is a 100% match on a first deposit of R10 to R3,000, made within 30 days of signing up. Wagering is 8x the bonus amount on the sportsbook (virtuals excluded), also within 30 days.

The conditions that matter in practice: singles need minimum odds of 2.00, while multiples need 1.40 per leg and at least 2.00 in total. Only winning or losing bets count, and repeated or interconnected bets do not. The maximum bet while wagering is R3,000. The bonus cannot be used on casino games. If the player withdraws the deposit before the wagering is complete, the bonus is forfeited. Prepaid, virtual and unidentifiable debit cards do not qualify.

The time limit is where the information conflicts. The Help Center and the AI assistant said 14 days. The offer page and the human agent said 30 days. We go with 30, because two of the three sources agree and one of them is the offer page itself, but a player who relied on the assistant would think they had less than half the time. Virgin Bet’s general bonus rules, updated on 16 February 2026, also say bonuses must be claimed within 7 days and expire after 7 days unless the offer states otherwise, so always check the terms shown when you claim.

Ongoing promotions include Multi Boost of up to 1000% (three or more selections, minimum odds of 1.20 per leg), a Winnings Boost on Bet Builders (maximum stake R500, minimum combined odds of 2.0), 2UP early payout, VAR Payout, Super Sub Payout, 6% tax back on horse racing and the FIVES free-to-play game, where players can win up to R500 per goal.

Virgin Bet receives 8.0/10 for Bonus Fairness & Wagering Terms. The low 8x requirement, the 30-day window and the range of ongoing promotions earn a Strong score. The inconsistent validity period, the 2.00 odds floor on singles and the forfeit rule on early withdrawals keep it from going higher.

7

What Markets and Features Does Virgin Bet Sportsbook Offer?

8.0 / 10
In short: A broad sportsbook with more than 39 sports and esports, deep football markets and a good set of payout features. We did not compare odds against other bookmakers.

The sports list covers more than 39 sports and esports, plus horse racing. Football is the strongest area. On an Arsenal v Leeds fixture we found Bet Builder, VAR Payout, corners, shots on target, goalscorer markets and more. Player markets are settled using Opta data, and broadcast matches show which SuperSport channel carries them.

Virgin Bet also puts weight on features that affect how bets pay. 2UP pays out a football bet as a winner once the selection goes two goals up, VAR Payout and Super Sub Payout cover those specific events, and price boosts and Multi Boost sit across the sportsbook. The FIVES free-to-play game adds a low-stakes extra.

We did not compare the odds with other South African bookmakers, so we cannot say whether prices are competitive. We also did not test settlement speed on live events. Virgin Bet receives 8.0/10 for Product Quality. A wide market range, deep football coverage and useful payout features earn a Strong score. The unchecked odds quality is why it is not higher.

8

Is the Virgin Bet Sportsbook App Any Good?

8.0 / 10
In short: Virgin Bet has an iPhone app on the App Store, a Huawei AppGallery listing and a direct APK download for Android. We have not installed the APK, so this score reflects distribution and store signals rather than a full app test.

On iPhone, Virgin Bet is available on the App Store as “Virgin Bet: Sports Betting”. The listing is free, rated 18+, and showed a 4.6 rating from 71 reviews and a position of No. 24 in the Sports chart when we checked. The app is iPhone only.

Huawei users can install from AppGallery, where the listing shows 3.0 stars, about 17,000 installs and a “Virus check” and “Manual check” label from the store. Android users get a direct APK download from Virgin Bet’s website. We have not installed it, so we cannot say how it behaves with Google Play Protect. The store screenshots show Sports, Casino, Live Casino and Promotions tabs, and the same promotions as the website.

Three installation routes is more than most South African operators offer. Virgin Bet receives 8.0/10 for Mobile Experience. We may adjust the score once we have installed and tested the Android app.

9

How Good Is Virgin Bet Sportsbook Customer Support?

8.0 / 10
In short: Chat opens with a clearly labelled AI assistant, and a human agent follows through a short form in about two minutes. The human agent was accurate and polite. Published hours are shorter than the 24-hour support claimed elsewhere on the site.

Live chat opens with an AI assistant that identifies itself as one. Its answers on payment methods and withdrawal rules matched the Help Center. It also made mistakes: it gave 14 days for the sportsbook welcome offer when the offer page says 30, it could not answer our licence question (“didn’t quite catch that”), it left a follow-up on loss limits unanswered, and its answer on complaints printed a raw placeholder, “%MER”, where contact details should have been.

Handover to a human runs through a form that asks for an email address first and takes five steps. It took about two minutes. The human agent was polite and accurate. They explained that loss limits can only be set by the relevant team, apply to all products and can take up to 24 hours to set up, and they confirmed that the sportsbook welcome offer runs for 30 days, which matches the offer page. They did not address our question about a Western Cape licence or casino coverage.

The contact channels are support@virginbet.co.za, live chat from 07:00 to 22:00 and a phone line, +27 80 010 0021, from 06:30 to 22:00. Virgin Bet’s responsible gambling page claims 24-hour support, which does not match those hours. The complaints route starts with a written complaint to Virgin Bet Limited, marked for the attention of the directors of VB South Africa, at 3 Dock Road, V&A Waterfront, or by email. It then moves to the managing director’s office and finally to the alternative dispute resolution service run through the MER.

Virgin Bet receives 8.0/10 for Customer Support. A transparent AI assistant, a quick route to a human and an accurate human answer are real strengths. The assistant’s errors, the unanswered licence question and the hours contradiction keep it at Strong rather than Excellent. Sportsbook and casino share one account and one licence, so this score matches our companion casino review.

What Responsible Gambling Tools Does Virgin Bet Sportsbook Offer?

8.5 / 10
In short: Virgin Bet offers self-set deposit limits, cool-off periods, a reality check and self-exclusion for up to 5 years, plus a loss limit through support. Wager and session limits are missing, and the loss limit cannot be set in the account.

The Responsible Gambling page and account settings offer deposit limits (daily, weekly or monthly, based on net position), cool-off periods of 1 day, 1 to 4 weeks or 6 weeks, a reality check, self-exclusion for 6 months, 1, 2 or 5 years, and account closure.

Self-exclusion closes the account and it cannot be reopened until the period ends. It also bars accounts with other LiveScore Group brands. National self-exclusion is handled through the NGB or the National Responsible Gambling Programme, helpline 0800 006 008. Players can also reach the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation, and Virgin Bet’s app listing shows a WhatsApp help line, 076 675 0710.

Loss limits are the gap. The Help Center describes limits on net losses per day, week or month, but the account has no control for setting one. According to the human agent, only the relevant team can set a loss limit, it applies across all products, setup takes up to 24 hours and any change goes through support. We also found no wager limits and no dedicated session time limit.

Virgin Bet receives 8.5/10 for Responsible Gambling Tools. The mix of limits, breaks and long exclusion periods is broad, the self-exclusion rules are firm, and a loss limit can be set across every product. It stays below Excellent because the loss limit has to go through support, wager and session limits are missing, and we saw no self-assessment test or product-specific exclusion. Sportsbook and casino share one account and one licence, so this score matches our companion casino review.

Virgin Bet Sportsbook FAQ: Licence, Withdrawals, Deposits, Verification and Bonus

Is Virgin Bet legit and safe in South Africa?
Yes. Virgin Bet is operated by VB South Africa (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2024/318645/07, and holds Mpumalanga Economic Regulator bookmaker licence 9-2-1-09938, confirmed against the published certificate and the National Gambling Board’s Verified Operators portal. The portal also lists a second, Western Cape entry for the company that the Virgin Bet site does not mention. The review gives Licensing & Legal Transparency a score of 8.5/10. On safety, identity checks begin at registration, when Virgin Bet asks for an ID number, and deposits follow a name-on-card rule. We found no two-factor authentication in the account settings, which keeps Safety & Security at 7.0/10.
How long do Virgin Bet withdrawals take?
Withdrawals are made by bank transfer (EFT) only. There is no fee and no stated minimum, the limit is R1,000,000 per transaction, and processing takes up to 24 hours internally followed by up to 3 working days for the transfer. You need to be fully verified and have no bonus wagering pending. A withdrawal cannot be cancelled once requested. BettingGuru SA has not yet tested a withdrawal.
What is the minimum deposit and withdrawal at Virgin Bet?
Deposits start at R10 and Virgin Bet states no deposit fee. The ceiling is R500,000 per transaction on card, bank-to-bank and Capitec Pay, and R4,000 per transaction on 1Voucher. There is no stated minimum withdrawal and no withdrawal fee, although a balance under R10 needs a request to support, and the limit is R1,000,000 per transaction.
How do I FICA verify my Virgin Bet account?
Virgin Bet asks for an ID number at registration, so identity checks begin before your first deposit, and further documents can be requested later, particularly before a withdrawal. The terms allow Virgin Bet to withhold payments until age, identity and anti-money-laundering checks are complete, and to withdraw you must have no outstanding verification.
What is the Virgin Bet welcome bonus for sports betting?
A 100% match on a first deposit of R10 to R3,000, made within 30 days of signing up, with wagering of 8x the bonus amount on the sportsbook within 30 days. Singles need minimum odds of 2.00, multiples need 1.40 per leg and at least 2.00 in total, and the maximum bet while wagering is R3,000. Withdrawing the deposit before completing the wagering forfeits the bonus. Virgin Bet’s Help Center and AI assistant quoted 14 days, so check the terms shown when you claim.
Can I deposit at Virgin Bet with 1Voucher?
Yes. 1Voucher is listed on the deposit page inside the account, with a limit of R4,000 per transaction. The other methods listed are Visa and Mastercard, Capitec Pay, Absa Pay and Pay by bank, and we did not see other voucher brands such as OTT listed. The minimum deposit starts at R10.
Does Virgin Bet have a mobile app?
Yes. Virgin Bet is on the Apple App Store as “Virgin Bet: Sports Betting” for iPhone, on Huawei AppGallery, and Android users can download an APK directly from the website. BettingGuru SA has not yet installed the Android APK.
How do I set deposit or loss limits at Virgin Bet?
You can set deposit limits yourself, daily, weekly or monthly, from the Responsible Gambling page or your account settings. A loss limit cannot be set in the account: only the relevant Virgin Bet team can set it, on request, it applies across all products and setup can take up to 24 hours. Cool-off periods run from 1 day to 6 weeks, and self-exclusion runs for 6 months, 1, 2 or 5 years. We found no wager limits and no dedicated session time limit.
How do I contact Virgin Bet support or close my account?
Support runs through support@virginbet.co.za, live chat from 07:00 to 22:00 and a phone line, +27 80 010 0021, from 06:30 to 22:00, which is shorter than the 24-hour support claimed elsewhere on the site. Live chat opens with an AI assistant, and a human agent is reached through a short form. The assistant made mistakes in our checks, so confirm key terms such as bonus length against the offer page. Account closure is listed on the Responsible Gambling page, and self-exclusion closes the account until the chosen period ends.
