PSL Matchday 8 Preview: Fixtures and Kick-Off Times

๐Ÿ“‹ PSL Matchday Preview

Welcome to our PSL Matchday 8 preview. The Betway Premiership returns after the season’s first FIFA international break with an eight fixture round played across Tuesday 13 October and the weekend of 17 and 18 October. All 16 clubs are involved this time, unlike Matchday 7, when Mamelodi Sundowns and Siwelele both sat out having already played their round early.

Sundowns and Pirates both arrive on the back of the MTN8 final, which Sundowns won 2-0 on Saturday. Read our MTN8 final 2026 report for the full story.

PSL Matchday 8 Preview: Fixtures and Kick-Off Times

Durban City vs AmaZulu

Tuesday, 13 October, 19:30, Chatsworth Stadium, Chatsworth

Durban City are 10th on 7 points and have gone two matches without a win, their last outing a 1-1 draw with Milford. AmaZulu sit third on 16 points after Thando Ngwenya’s fourth-minute winner saw off Polokwane City last time out, and Ngwenya leads the league’s scoring charts. AmaZulu look the side in form here.

Kaizer Chiefs vs Stellenbosch

Tuesday, 13 October, 19:30, FNB Stadium, Johannesburg

Chiefs are unbeaten through 7 matches (3 wins, 4 draws) and fourth on 13 points, though they’ve now drawn their last two. Stellenbosch are seventh on 9 points and arrive on the back of a 1-0 win at Kruger United. Chiefs’ unbeaten record is the headline, but their recent draws keep this one open.

Richards Bay vs Mamelodi Sundowns

Tuesday, 13 October, 19:30, Princess Magogo Stadium, Durban

See Match of the Round below.

Orlando Pirates vs TS Galaxy

Tuesday, 13 October, 19:30, Orlando Amstel Arena, Soweto

Pirates are second on 19 points, unbeaten in 7 (6 wins, 1 draw) and boast the league’s best goal difference at +15. TS Galaxy are 12th on 6 points and lost 0-1 at home to Chippa United last time out. On paper this is heavily in Pirates’ favour, and a win would put them level on points with Sundowns.

Chippa United vs Kruger United

Saturday, 17 October, 15:30, Buffalo City Stadium, East London

Chippa are ninth on 8 points and picked up their first win of the season last time out, 1-0 away at TS Galaxy, after a run of five draws and a loss in their first six matches. Kruger United are 13th on 4 points with the league’s worst goal difference at -9, having lost 0-1 at home to Stellenbosch. Chippa’s new-found winning form makes them the lean.

Golden Arrows vs Milford

Saturday, 17 October, 15:30, King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium, Durban

Arrows are eighth on 8 points and remarkably draw-prone, five of their seven matches so far have been drawn, their last a 0-0 with Kaizer Chiefs. Milford are fifth on 12 points and also drew last time out, 1-1 with Durban City. Given Arrows’ habit of sharing the points, a third straight draw wouldn’t be a surprise.

Sekhukhune United vs Marumo Gallants

Saturday, 17 October, 18:00, Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane

Sekhukhune are sixth on 11 points and won 3-2 away at Richards Bay last time out. Marumo Gallants are bottom on 2 points, winless in all 7 matches so far, and lost 0-2 at home to Orlando Pirates last time out. Sekhukhune’s home form and Marumo’s winless run make the hosts the clear lean.

Siwelele vs Polokwane City

Sunday, 18 October, 15:30, Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein

Siwelele are 15th on 3 points and return from more than a month out of action, their last match a 3-0 loss to Sundowns back on 9 September. Polokwane City are 11th on 7 points after their 0-1 defeat to AmaZulu. Siwelele’s long layoff makes this one hard to call either way.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Match of the Round: Richards Bay vs Mamelodi Sundowns

Sundowns lead the log on 20 points from 8 matches, unbeaten with 6 wins and 2 draws, and own the competition’s best defensive record alongside a +12 goal difference. Richards Bay are 14th on 3 points and still winless after 7 matches, their last outing a 2-3 home defeat to Sekhukhune United. On paper this looks like one of the more one-sided fixtures of the round, but it matters well beyond Richards Bay’s own survival fight: Orlando Pirates, one point behind Sundowns, play TS Galaxy the same evening, so how Sundowns fare in Durban will shape the gap at the top regardless of what happens in Soweto.
