PSL Results Matchday 7: Every Scoreline and Goalscorer

Mamelodi Sundowns and Siwelele were not in action this round because they had already played each other, with Sundowns winning 3-0 at Loftus Versfeld on 9 September.

Saturday, 19 September

Richards Bay 2-3 Sekhukhune

Sekhukhune led 2-0 through Tshepo Mokoane early in the first half and Ndongani Gilbani after the hour mark, but Nqaba Xulu struck twice for Richards Bay (77′, 86′) to level it. Rammala won it for Sekhukhune with a calm finish in the 89th minute. Richards Bay are still without a win after seven matches.

Polokwane 0-1 AmaZulu

Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya headed in from a set piece inside the first five minutes and that was all AmaZulu needed for their third win in a row. Polokwane’s Tidimalo Molokwane hit the post in the 44th minute, but the hosts could not find an equaliser.

Kruger United 0-1 Stellenbosch

Keanan Johanessen scored the only goal in the 27th minute, his first senior professional goal on his first start, after a poor Kruger clearance fell to him. Kruger had Katlego Mohamme sent off for a second yellow card in the 77th minute and have now lost five of their seven matches.

Sunday, 20 September

Golden Arrows 0-0 Kaizer Chiefs

A goalless draw with plenty of chances. Lebohang Maboe had a penalty saved by Arrows goalkeeper Thakasani Mbanjwa just after the half hour, Mfundo Vilakazi hit the crossbar late on, and Arrows had the last big chance in the 90th minute when Thokozani Khumalo shot wide with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Marumo Gallants 0-2 Orlando Pirates

Kabelo Kgositsile (32′) and Nkosinathi Sibisi (74′) scored, and Man of the Match Thapelo Mokobodi provided the assist for both. Pirates have now won six of their seven matches. Marumo are still winless after seven and bottom of the log on 2 points.

Milford 1-1 Durban City

Mvelo Zikakayo put Milford ahead in the 38th minute, after Siphosethu Ndlabi had a penalty saved by Durban City goalkeeper Frederick Asare around the half hour mark. Half time substitute Luphumlo Sifumba levelled with a curling free kick five minutes into the second half, and neither side found a winner.

TS Galaxy 0-1 Chippa United

Majadibodu scored in the 62nd minute, set up by Abubakar Mobara, to give Chippa their first win of the season. Chippa carried the greater threat in the first half, and Galaxy goalkeeper Ira Tape made two saves to keep the score level at the break.

How We Did Last Matchday

When we published our Matchday 7 preview, two of the seven games, Richards Bay vs Sekhukhune and Polokwane vs AmaZulu, had already been played, so our leans covered the five still to come. We leaned toward Stellenbosch at Kruger United and Orlando Pirates at Marumo Gallants, and both came off. We called Golden Arrows vs Kaizer Chiefs a tight game and it finished 0-0. We missed on two: we leaned Milford at home against Durban City, which finished 1-1, and TS Galaxy at home against Chippa United, which Chippa won 1-0. Two of our four leans landed.

Table After Matchday 7

Mamelodi Sundowns lead on 20 points from 8 matches, one point clear of Orlando Pirates, who have played one game fewer. AmaZulu are third on 16, with Kaizer Chiefs still unbeaten in fourth. Chippa United’s first win moves them up to ninth, and Marumo Gallants remain bottom. Sundowns have played 8 matches and Milford 8, while every other club has played 7.
