PSL Results: Matchday 5 Weekend Round-Up

📋 PSL Weekend Wrap

Matchday 5 of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season is complete, and it was a round defined as much by what didn’t happen as what did. Three of the eight fixtures finished goalless, while Orlando Pirates put four past Kruger United without reply for the biggest margin of the round. Below is every result and goalscorer from Matchday 5.

PSL Results: Matchday 5

Tuesday, 1 September

Durban City 0-0 Stellenbosch

A quiet start to the round, with neither side able to find a breakthrough.

Kruger United 0-4 Orlando Pirates

Gamphani Lungu opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 4th minute, Boitumelo Radiopane doubled the lead in the 54th, and Yanela Mbuthuma completed the rout with a brace (79′, 90+2′). The biggest win of the round, exactly as our Matchday 5 preview expected against the league’s bottom side.

Friday, 4 September

Richards Bay 1-2 AmaZulu

Moses Mthembu’s 80th minute penalty for Richards Bay came either side of two AmaZulu goals, Ngwenya’s 52nd minute opener and Sibusiso Radebe’s 82nd minute winner. AmaZulu’s second win of the campaign.

Marumo Gallants 2-2 Polokwane City

Polokwane City led twice, through Tidimalo Molokwane (3′) and Bonginkosi Dlamini (25′), before Msindisi Ndlovu (17′) and a Lebohang Petrus Nkaki own goal (44′) levelled it for the hosts. A share of the points for two sides still searching for consistency.

Saturday, 5 September

Chippa 0-0 Milford

The second goalless draw of the round, with both sides cancelling each other out.

Sekhukhune 0-0 TS Galaxy

A third goalless draw for the round. Exactly the draw our preview called, with a tough week catching up on Sekhukhune.

Sunday, 6 September

Golden Arrows 1-2 Mamelodi Sundowns

Siyanda Mthanti put Sundowns ahead in the 14th minute, Junior Dion levelled for Arrows in the 76th, and Teboho Mokoena’s 88th minute strike settled it. Their second meeting in a week after Sundowns overturned Arrows’ MTN8 semi-final first leg shock to reach the final, and Sundowns won this one too, exactly as our Matchday 5 preview called it.

Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 Siwelele FC

Mfundo Vilakazi (30′) and Wandile Duba (65′) put Chiefs in control, and a Samukelo Xulu own goal (76′) made it three. Aphiwe Baliti pulled one back for Siwelele in the 68th minute, and a Siwelele substitute added a second in stoppage time. A response from Chiefs after their Matchday 4 draw with Richards Bay.

How We Did Last Matchday

In our Matchday 5 preview, we picked 6 of the 8 fixtures correctly: Durban City vs Stellenbosch, Kruger United vs Orlando Pirates, Richards Bay vs AmaZulu, Sekhukhune United vs TS Galaxy, Golden Arrows vs Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs vs Siwelele all went as we leaned. We missed on two, backing a Polokwane City win at Marumo Gallants that finished 2-2, and a Milford win over Chippa that finished goalless, both matches where we expected a winner and got a draw instead.

Table After Matchday 5

Orlando Pirates remain unbeaten and clear at the top after five straight wins, with Mamelodi Sundowns right behind them. Kaizer Chiefs, also still unbeaten, bounced back after dropping points in their last two outings. Three goalless results in one round, an unusually high number, kept several mid table sides level on points.
